Airtel Money Plans $8 Billion London Stock Exchange Listing

Airtel Money plans to list existing shares on the London Stock Exchange at a valuation of up to $9 billion, marking London's largest listing in five years.

Airtel Money Limited, a mobile financial services provider operating in 13 sub-Saharan African markets, plans to list existing shares on the London Stock Exchange. The company is targeting a valuation between $8 billion and $9 billion, with an offering of at least $800 million in existing shares. This secondary offering allows existing stakeholders to sell shares without the company raising new capital.

Existing shareholders participating in the sale include the International Finance Corporation, TPG, Mastercard, the Qatar Investment Authority, and Chimetech Holding. The International Finance Corporation has agreed to purchase a stake valued between $84 million and $89.7 million. Airtel Africa, which holds nearly 80% of the unit, intends to remain a long-term majority shareholder.

The listing was previously delayed from the first half of 2026 due to market volatility linked to the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran. Despite a period of decline for the London market, the company may file paperwork as early as this week. CEO Ian Ferrao stated the company is approaching the IPO from a position of financial strength, noting the business is debt-free and capital-light.

Airtel Money currently serves 53 million monthly active users and reported earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization of $676 million for the fiscal year ended March.
