Ghana Revokes Adamus Resources Mining Leases Over Regulatory Breaches

The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources of Ghana revoked the mining leases of Adamus Resources Limited on August 12, 2026, following a series of findings by the Minerals Commission. The regulatory body identified significant legal and financial breaches, including mining activities conducted outside approved areas without permits and a failure to obtain a required Operating Permit from the Chief Inspector of Mines.

Government officials stated the revocation was approved under Section 5(1) of the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006, to protect the public interest. The ministry explicitly denied reports that the action was intended to facilitate the sale of the company's assets to a preferred investor, describing such claims as speculative.

Adamus Resources Limited has rejected the decision, labeling it unlawful and a violation of statutory requirements. The company accused Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah of abusing his power to strongarm the firm and described the government's allegations as "unfounded, contrived and deliberately manufactured." The company has signaled its intention to take legal action to overturn the revocation.
