Four Nations Push to Delay IPCC Climate Report
China, India, Russia, and Saudi Arabia are attempting to postpone the release of the IPCC seventh assessment report until 2029.
The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change is facing internal disputes over the timeline for its seventh assessment report (AR7). While IPCC scientists intend to deliver the full findings by late 2028 to align with the COP33 UN climate conference, a coalition of nations is pushing to delay the release.
China, India, Russia, and Saudi Arabia are seeking to postpone some or all of the report's findings until 2029. The disagreement is currently the subject of deliberations during an IPCC meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
