SpaceX Investors Press Elon Musk Over Potential Tesla Inc. Merger
SpaceX investors are demanding clarity on a potential merger with Tesla Inc. ahead of the rocket company's first public earnings webcast.
Investors in SpaceX are using a new Grok-powered Q&A portal to pressure the company to address a potential merger with Tesla Inc. The inquiries come as SpaceX prepares for its first earnings webcast as a public company, with investors focusing on the growing operational convergence between the two firms, including shared work on robotics, AI agents, Starlink, and the Terafab semiconductor project.
Elon Musk, CEO of both companies, has dismissed reports from the Wall Street Journal suggesting Tesla Inc. explored separating its China operations to facilitate such a combination. Tesla Inc. China further labeled those reports as false information. During a previous Tesla Inc. earnings call, Musk declined to discuss the corporate mechanics of a merger, stating, "Obviously, we can’t talk about combining companies and that kind of thing on an earnings call."
Tesla Inc. General Counsel Brandon Ehrhart deferred the matter to existing framework agreements and Tesla Inc.'s current investment in SpaceX. Despite these responses, SpaceX investors continue to seek formal answers regarding planned mergers and the integration of shared infrastructure and supply chains.
