Houthi Missile Strikes Hit Saudi Arabia and Yemen Military Camp
Houthi forces launched projectile attacks on a Saudi residential neighborhood and a Yemeni military training camp, killing up to 20 people and injuring dozens more.
The Houthi movement launched a series of missile and projectile attacks across Saudi Arabia and Yemen between October 18 and October 19, 2026. On Sunday, Houthi forces struck a residential neighborhood in Najran, Saudi Arabia, injuring six civilians and causing property damage. Saudi Civil Defense teams responded to the site to provide medical aid and secure the perimeter.
On Monday, the Iran-aligned group escalated its campaign by firing three ballistic missiles at the al-Alam military training camp in Yemen's Shabwa province. The strike targeted soldiers and recruits of the Rapid Intervention force during morning training. Casualty reports vary, with some sources stating at least 18 people were killed and others reporting at least 20 deaths, alongside two dozen wounded. Col. Majed al-Nazili, spokesman for Yemen's military, confirmed the use of the ballistic missiles.
These attacks occur as a 2022 ceasefire has collapsed, leading to a broader regional struggle involving the United States and Iran. While the Houthis have increased strikes on Saudi airports and Aramco oil facilities, a Saudi-led coalition has launched a military offensive to retake strategic territory near the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. This includes a Saudi airstrike in Saada on Sunday that killed at least nine people. Rashad al-Alimi, head of Yemen's Presidential Leadership Council, has promised a firm response to the recent hostilities.
