Global Mayors Dialogue in Ningbo Produces Collaborative Development Consensus
Mayors from 20 cities across 15 countries signed the Ningbo Consensus to deepen industrial cooperation and safeguard global supply chains during a four-day summit in China.
The Government of Ningbo hosted the 2026 Global Mayors Dialogue from November 2 to 5 under the theme "Openness and Connectivity, Shared Opportunities." The event brought together over 260 participants, including mayors and business leaders from 20 cities across 15 countries, to explore urban openness and industrial collaboration.
Participants released the Ningbo Consensus on Collaborative Development, which focuses on deepening industrial cooperation, upholding trade openness, and promoting people-to-people exchanges. The agreement urges cities to maintain stable industrial and supply chains and support the multilateral trading system. To foster mutual understanding and prevent conflict, the consensus pledges expanded cooperation in healthcare, education, and culture.
The summit resulted in the signing of 14 cooperation projects spanning trade, tourism, and education. New friendly exchange relations were established between Yuyao City and Errachidia, Morocco, as well as between Ningbo's Yinzhou District and the Canton of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, France. During the event, delegates visited smart manufacturing workshops and the Ningbo-Zhoushan Port to study industrial integration.
Joachim Moyse, mayor of the Canton of Saint-Étienne-du-Rouvray, praised Ningbo's people-centric urban development as a "Chinese experience" to be shared in France. He emphasized the necessity of building a framework for peace as a prerequisite for international cooperation.
