India and UK Expand Defence Industrial Cooperation in New Delhi
India and the United Kingdom agreed to co-develop advanced defence platforms and increase joint military exercises during the 25th Defence Consultative Group meeting.
The Government of India and the Government of the United Kingdom expanded their strategic defence partnership during the 25th India-UK Defence Consultative Group meeting in New Delhi on August 21, 2026. Co-chaired by Indian Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and UK Permanent Under Secretary for Defence Jeremy Pocklington, the talks focused on the India-UK Vision 2035 and a Ten-year Defence Industrial Roadmap.
Both nations agreed to increase bilateral exchanges through joint exercises, training, and capacity building. A primary focus of the industrial roadmap is the co-development and co-production of advanced platforms, specifically targeting electric propulsion and jet engine core technologies to increase technological autonomy.
Maritime security in the Indo-Pacific served as a central theme, with officials discussing the role of the Regional Maritime Security Centre of Excellence and China's growing assertiveness in the region. As part of his first official visit to India, Jeremy Pocklington held bilateral talks with Chief of Defence Staff General NS Raja Subramani and visited the National Defence College, the National War Memorial, and the Gandhi Smriti Museum.
