Carnegie UK Urges Government to Use Wellbeing Data
Sarah Davidson of Carnegie UK called on the British government to integrate national wellbeing data into policy decisions regarding tax, spending, and public services.
The Chief Executive of Carnegie UK, Sarah Davidson, urged the British government to integrate wellbeing data into its policy-making processes to ensure tangible improvements in public life. Writing in response to a conference speech delivered by Andy Burnham on September 29, Davidson argued that ministers must use evidence to guide critical decisions on tax, spending, and public services.
Davidson specifically emphasized that such a data-driven approach is necessary to support disadvantaged populations. She noted that while the Office for National Statistics already provides robust evidence through its UK Measures of National Well-being Dashboard, there is currently little indication that this information drives government policy.
