AMD Invests $1 Billion in Meta to Expand AI Infrastructure
AMD is investing $1 billion in Meta to scale AI infrastructure through the deployment of EPYC processors, Instinct GPUs, and Helios rack-scale systems.
Advanced Micro Devices, Inc. is investing $1 billion in a Meta Platforms Incorporated equity offering to strengthen a technical partnership focused on AI infrastructure. The two companies are deploying hardware at a gigawatt scale to support the development of frontier models and personal superintelligence.
Meta has already integrated millions of AMD EPYC processors across multiple generations, including those powering the Muse personal AI agent, and serves as a lead customer for 6th Gen EPYC chips. The collaboration includes the deployment of Helios rack-scale systems and the use of Instinct GPUs for AI training, ranking, and recommendation workloads.
As an early definition customer for the Instinct MI450 architecture, Meta plans to deploy a customized Instinct GPU optimized for its specific workloads. The companies are also collaborating on the Verano chip family and the optimization of the ROCm software platform for PyTorch.
