ICAC Investigates Illegal Donations by Fugitive Developer Jean Nassif

The Independent Commission Against Corruption is investigating whether fugitive developer Jean Nassif paid Liberal Party figures to remove a building commissioner from office.

The Independent Commission Against Corruption is conducting public hearings for Operation Rosny to determine if fugitive property developer Jean Nassif made illegal donations to Liberal Party figures. The inquiry focuses on whether these payments were intended to remove former building commissioner David Chandler from office and damage the career of David Elliott.

During testimony, David Chandler stated that Nassif threatened him during a building defect investigation, telling him, "if you harm my project I’ll harm you." Additionally, Anita Perrottet provided evidence regarding her use of encrypted messaging apps and her husband Charles Perrottet's attendance at a lunch hosted at Nassif's home.

Jean Nassif fled to Lebanon in 2022 to avoid fraud allegations involving his company, Toplace. The commission announced that Nassif will appear as a witness via video link next Friday.
