JIATF-401 Announces $7 Billion Counter-Drone Technology Contracts
Joint Interagency Task Force 401 announced nearly $7 billion in contracts to scale kinetic and non-kinetic counter-drone defenses for U.S. agencies and international allies.
The Joint Interagency Task Force 401 announced enterprise contracts for counter-drone and counter-uncrewed aerial system technologies with a combined ceiling of nearly $7 billion. The investment scales a diverse arsenal of kinetic weapons and non-kinetic sensors to provide federal, state, and local agencies with a layered defense tailored to specific environments.
This acceleration follows the rapid proliferation of drones in global conflicts and specific attacks that killed U.S. service members in Jordan in 2024 and Kuwait in March 2026. To streamline procurement, the task force established a drone marketplace that recently expanded to international allies, with Australia becoming the first ally to procure technology through the system.
Brigadier General Matthew Ross stated the contracts ensure that capabilities which are being proliferated are available to military formations. Assistant Secretary of the Army Brent Ingraham noted that there is not a single answer to the drone threat, necessitating the diverse approach of the new contracts.
