Apple to Raise iPhone 18 Pro Prices by $100

Apple Inc. is expected to raise the starting price of the iPhone 18 Pro to $1,199 during its annual September event, representing a $100 increase over the previous generation. This projected 9% price hike is driven by escalating component expenses and supply constraints in memory production and advanced semiconductor fabrication, largely fueled by the expansion of AI infrastructure.

While some analysts initially predicted price jumps of $200 or more, current reports suggest the company may absorb a portion of the production costs to maintain competitiveness. This move aligns Apple with competitors Samsung Electronics and Google, both of which recently implemented $100 price increases for their latest flagship portfolios, including the Galaxy S26 and Pixel 11 series.

The iPhone adjustment follows significant price revisions across other hardware lines. Two months ago, Mac and iPad prices rose by an average of 23%, with some devices increasing by up to 33%. Specifically, the Mac Studio rose by $500 and the MacBook Air by $200. Apple has warned that these rising costs are pressuring gross margins.

To mitigate consumer sticker shock, Apple recently introduced an Upgrade subscription program that allows customers to spread device costs through monthly payments. Official pricing will be confirmed during the company's standard product launch announcements.
