LG Electronics Reports Record Second Quarter 2026 Profits
LG Electronics posted record-breaking second-quarter results for 2026, driven by premium home appliance sales, vehicle components, and high demand for air conditioners in Europe.
LG Electronics reported record-breaking preliminary financial results for the second quarter of 2026, with operating profit soaring 146.9 percent year-on-year to 1.58 trillion won ($1.04 billion). Revenue for the April-June period reached a record 23.83 trillion won, a 14.9 percent increase that surpassed market expectations of 1.06 trillion won in profit and 22.54 trillion won in revenue.
For the first half of the year, the company achieved record consolidated revenue of 47.56 trillion won and an all-time high operating profit of 3.25 trillion won. This half-year profit already surpasses the company's total operating profit for the entirety of 2025.
Growth was primarily driven by strong sales of premium televisions and home appliances, as well as expansion in the vehicle solutions business. High demand for air conditioners, particularly during heat waves in Europe, helped the company offset economic uncertainties and geopolitical conflicts in the Middle East. The company also attributed the profit surge to higher-margin activities, including its webOS platform, B2B segments, and subscription services.
Additional financial contributions included a one-off gain from a partial refund of U.S. tariffs. To improve cost efficiency and streamline its workforce, the company implemented a voluntary retirement program in April.
