ASX 200 Falls as Raiz Plummets on Compliance Failures

The S&P/ASX 200 index declined on Tuesday amid losses in mining and technology stocks and a sharp plunge for Raiz Invest Ltd.

The S&P/ASX 200 index fell 0.12 percent to 8,772.70 during mid-market trading on Tuesday, October 13, 2026. The decline reversed gains from the previous two sessions, with losses in the mining and technology sectors offsetting gains in energy and financial stocks.

Individual company performance varied sharply. Raiz Invest Ltd. saw its shares plunge 33 percent after the company disclosed failures in tax reporting and compliance. Conversely, Cettire shares jumped 12 percent following the purchase of a major stake by the Israeli hedge fund UDN Eden Management.

Broader economic indicators suggest continued instability. The National Australia Bank reported that its Business Confidence Index dropped to -13 in September, the lowest level since May and the seventh consecutive month of negative sentiment. This follows a September decision by the Reserve Bank of Australia to unanimously raise the cash rate by 25 basis points to 4.6 percent to address persistent inflation risks.
