Tony Evers Announces $370 Million for Wisconsin Road Projects

Governor Tony Evers and state transportation officials announced the award of nearly $370 million in federal transportation funding to support 195 local road and bridge projects across Wisconsin. The funds are distributed through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation via the Surface Transportation Program and the Local Bridge Improvement Assistance Program, targeting both urban and rural communities for federal fiscal years 2027 to 2031.

State officials reported that Wisconsin has improved more than 9,600 miles of roads and repaired 2,400 bridges since 2019. Secretary Kristina Boardman stated that these projects will help modernize infrastructure and ensure residents have reliable and accessible transportation to reach school and work.

Alongside the funding announcement, Evers sent a letter to the state's congressional delegation. He urged the reauthorization of federal surface transportation funding before the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law expires later this year to maintain investments in roads, bridges, and electric vehicle infrastructure.
