Barrick Mining May Delay North American Gold Unit IPO
Barrick Mining Corp. may push the IPO of its North American gold unit to January 2027 due to administrative formalities.
Barrick Mining Corp. may delay the initial public offering of its North American gold unit until January 2027. Chief Executive Officer Mark Hill stated at a conference in Colorado Springs that the company is still pushing for a year-end listing in New York, but formalities have caused some delays.
To clear the path for the IPO, Barrick granted Newmont Corp. a stake in the Fourmile gold project in Nevada. This move resolved a dispute in which Newmont had threatened legal action over the mismanagement of a joint venture. Despite the resolution, Barrick shares declined as investors reacted poorly to the value of the deal.
Beyond the North American listing, the company is adjusting its global operations. Barrick has paused the Reko Diq project in Pakistan for reassessment. Simultaneously, the company is exploring expansions at the Veladero mine in Argentina and the Kibali mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
