First Bank of Nigeria and Visa Launch New Payment Cards

First Bank of Nigeria Limited and Visa launched a premium multicurrency Visa Signature card and a Naira Visa Debit Card to expand financial inclusion and luxury services.

First Bank of Nigeria Limited partnered with Visa to launch two new payment products, including the multicurrency Visa Signature card and the Naira Visa Debit Card. The Visa Signature card, introduced on May 15, 2026, targets the affluent segment of the Nigerian market, such as business owners and frequent international travelers. This premium offering provides global travel privileges, curated merchant offers, and support for cross-border transactions, expanding the bank's existing portfolio of Visa Infinite, Gold, Credit, and Prepaid cards.

Simultaneously, the bank introduced the Naira Visa Debit Card to support a broader demographic. This product focuses on everyday electronic payments, including online shopping and utility bills, to align with Nigeria's national cashless policy and financial inclusion goals. Both cards utilize Visa's global network to facilitate seamless domestic and international payments.

Executives from both organizations emphasized the strategic importance of these tools. Chuma Ezirim of FirstBank noted the bank's focus on evolving customer lifestyles and global outlooks, while Andrew Uaboi of Visa highlighted the high activity levels of Nigeria's globally connected affluent consumers.
