Uzbekistan Showcases Digital Economy Growth to Azerbaijani Media
Uzbekistan officials presented the country's expanding digital ecosystem and IT Park to a delegation of Azerbaijani journalists to highlight foreign investment and government tech strategies.
A delegation of 20 Azerbaijani media representatives, including the editor-in-chief of Trend International News Agency, visited IT Park Uzbekistan to examine the country's digital economy. During the tour, officials detailed the Digital Uzbekistan 2030 strategy and the One Million Uzbek Coders program, which aim to scale the nation's technological infrastructure.
Nodir Alibekov, Head of the Digital Economy Development Department at the Ministry of Digital Technologies of Uzbekistan, explained that the park was established following an initiative by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to create a dedicated space for IT sector support. The park currently supports approximately 3,800 technology companies and works with firms from 104 countries. Alibekov noted that more than 1,100 foreign companies from nations such as the United States, China, Japan, and South Korea are registered in Uzbekistan, with an average of 7 to 10 new international IT firms establishing operations every month.
Uzbekistan's broader digital landscape includes 145 IT universities and over 110,000 specialists. The startup ecosystem is valued at more than $4.3 billion, featuring 1,600 startups and two unicorn companies. To modernize public administration, the government has implemented over 3,300 digital projects, providing more than 800 electronic government services to over 15 million users.
