Richard Hammond Takes Majority Control of The Smallest Cog

Richard Hammond assumed majority ownership of The Smallest Cog restoration garage after injecting nearly £600,000 to stabilize the debt-ridden business.

Television presenter Richard Hammond has assumed majority control of The Smallest Cog, a classic car restoration garage located in Hereford. According to Companies House documents filed in December 2025, Hammond holds at least 75% of the company's shares and voting rights, giving him the authority to appoint or remove the majority of the board of directors.

The move comes after reports that the business struggled with debts of approximately £700,000. To stabilize the venture, Hammond injected nearly £600,000 of his own funds into the company. The garage is the central focus of the Discovery+ series Richard Hammond's Workshop.

The company has introduced its key team members, including workshop manager Jamie Pockett, known as Major Cog, and Isaac Marriott, referred to as Lanky Cog. Pockett is tasked with steering the business toward greater profitability. Outside of the garage, Hammond is scheduled to appear at the Salon Privé event at Blenheim Palace through September 6, 2026.
