AirTrunk Invests $1 Billion in Japan AI Data Centers

AirTrunk is investing $1 billion in its Inzai campus to deploy liquid-cooling technology for artificial intelligence workloads.

AirTrunk is investing $1 billion into its hyperscale data center campus in Inzai, Japan, to support the growing demands of artificial intelligence. The investment focuses on deploying liquid-cooling technology, transitioning the 300-plus-megawatt facility from its traditional role of supporting cloud services to handling intensive AI workloads.

CEO Robin Khuda stated that the TOK1 campus is likely to be the first in Japan to implement large-scale AI workload deployment. Khuda attributed the growth in the Japanese market to geopolitical factors and the increasing difficulty of deploying AI infrastructure in the United States and Europe, positioning Asia as a primary beneficiary of these shifts.
