Israel Strikes Southern Lebanon After Nabatieh Explosions
Israeli forces launched air and artillery strikes across southern Lebanon following an incident in Nabatieh that killed two people.
Israeli warplanes and artillery targeted multiple locations across southern Lebanon on Friday, August 21. The strikes hit the Ali al-Taher Heights, the northern outskirts of Nabatieh al-Fawqa, and several areas in the Bint Jbeil district, including al-Mansouri, Hadatha, and al-Tairi. Military forces also conducted mock air raids over Tyre and surrounding villages.
These operations follow an incident on Wednesday in Nabatieh, where explosive devices planted by Israeli forces killed two people and injured two others. The escalation has prompted a diplomatic response from the Lebanese government.
Joseph Aoun, the President of Lebanon, demanded the immediate withdrawal of Israeli forces from Lebanese territory and an end to attacks on national sovereignty. He asserted that decisions regarding war and peace must remain exclusively with the Lebanese state.
