Former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain Arrested in Corruption Case
The Anti-Corruption Branch arrested former Delhi Minister Satyendar Jain over alleged Jal Board irregularities, sparking a political clash between the AAP and BJP.
The Anti-Corruption Branch arrested former Delhi minister and Aam Aadmi Party leader Satyendar Jain on August 18 in connection with an alleged corruption case. The charges involve irregularities in the Delhi Jal Board tendering process and the construction of classrooms during a previous Delhi government administration. Jain faces charges under the Indian Penal Code and the Prevention of Corruption Act.
AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal condemned the arrest as political vendetta and a fake case, accusing the Bharatiya Janata Party of practicing dictatorship. In contrast, Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Kumar Singh cited a report from the Comptroller and Auditor General of India to allege that the previous AAP government engaged in widespread corruption across multiple sectors.
Amidst the political dispute, Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu launched new electric buses and EV services in New Delhi. The initiative aims to reduce pollution and expand emission-free public transport, introducing women-only routes and a new inter-state route to Karnal.
