NDC Begins Constituency Elections Across Ghana
The National Democratic Congress began electing constituency executives across Ghana on October 24 following the issuance of strict new voting and verification guidelines.
The National Democratic Congress began electing constituency executives across Ghana on October 24, 2026. The voting process, which concludes on October 25, involves more than 15,000 cleared aspirants contesting for approximately 25 positions in each of the 276 constituencies. These executives are responsible for managing party affairs at the grassroots level.
Prior to the start of voting, General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey issued binding guidelines to ensure a transparent process. The new rules prohibit tally voting for eight specific positions and require delegates to present a Ghana Card, a valid voter identification card, or a plastic party membership ID for verification. Kwetey ordered that ballots for youth and women's conferences be secured and counted only after the main constituency executive elections are finished.
In the Ashanti Region, where over 6,000 delegates are voting across 47 constituencies, Regional Chairman Andrew Augustus Nana Akwasi urged party members to maintain unity. He emphasized the need to resolve internal divisions to focus on the 2028 general elections.
