Akhilesh Yadav Alleges Corruption in BJP Infrastructure Projects
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav claims corruption led to structural failures in the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway and Maharashtra's Missing Link project.
Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav alleged rampant corruption in infrastructure projects led by the Bharatiya Janata Party, specifically citing the ₹4,700-crore Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway. Yadav claimed the expressway caved in before its official inauguration and argued that design flaws and traffic bottlenecks at entry points would compromise commuter safety and negate the high-speed advantages of the road.
Yadav linked these issues to the ₹6,700-crore Missing Link project in Maharashtra, characterizing the failures across both BJP-ruled states as a corruption competition. He suggested that corruption in these projects creates a situation where passengers must consider the safety of a short journey multiple times before traveling.
The National Highways Authority of India defended the project, stating the expressway is designed to provide smoother travel between Kanpur and Lucknow while improving connectivity to neighboring states and the Lucknow Airport.
