Reserve Bank of India Reports Strong Growth Through June 2026

The Reserve Bank of India reports that India remains among the world's fastest-growing major economies, sustained by resilient industrial and services sectors.

The Reserve Bank of India reported in its July bulletin that India has maintained its position as one of the fastest-growing major economies globally through June 2026. Despite global uncertainties including supply chain disruptions, fragmented trade, and the early July collapse of ceasefire talks in West Asia, the nation's industrial and services sectors have remained resilient.

Economic momentum in the first quarter of 2026-27 was bolstered by high growth in exports and imports, aided specifically by the operationalization of the India-UK Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. The central bank noted that the external sector remains steady, supported by rising foreign investment and net foreign portfolio investment flows that turned positive in June and July, though equity markets became range-bound following the cessation of the West Asia ceasefire.

While the farm sector has contended with an uneven southwest monsoon, the RBI expects comfortable foodgrain stocks to mitigate potential food inflation. Overall, the bank highlighted that sound external vulnerability indicators reflect renewed confidence in the Indian economy.
