India and Cyprus Establish Defense Roadmap Through 2031
Indian Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh visited Cyprus to establish a five-year defense roadmap focusing on maritime security, cybersecurity, and industrial cooperation.
India and Cyprus are expanding their strategic partnership through a bilateral defense roadmap covering 2026 to 2031. During an official visit on October 12 and 13, 2026, Rajesh Kumar Singh, the Indian Defence Secretary, met with senior Cypriot officials to coordinate efforts in maritime security, cybersecurity, and emerging technologies.
Singh visited the Mari Naval Base, where he met with Commodore Nicolaos Luca and toured the offshore patrol vessel Commodore Andreas Ioannides. India offered the Cypriot Navy training, capacity building, and technical assistance to enhance maritime domain awareness and search and rescue coordination. In Nicosia, Singh held talks with Cyprus Defence Minister Vasilis Palmas and officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to discuss defense industrial cooperation.
The engagement follows a May 2026 visit to India by Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides. While in Nicosia, Singh also met with United Nations officials to discuss India's ongoing contributions to the United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus. Following the conclusion of his meetings in Cyprus, Singh is scheduled to visit Greece to meet with senior defense and military leadership.
