Alex Bores Launches Who Decides to Shape 2028 AI Policy

New York state assemblyman Alex Bores has launched a political advocacy group called Who Decides to establish artificial intelligence safety and regulation as a central issue in the 2028 Democratic presidential primaries. The initiative follows a congressional primary loss for Bores, which served as a proxy battle between AI-linked super PACs, including OpenAI-associated committees that spent approximately $8 million attacking him.

Who Decides has raised $10 million toward a $30 million goal for next summer. The organization intends to fund policy memos, forums, and organizers across 11 early primary states to set a policy floor for future candidates. Bores aims to ensure that the American people are prioritized over the developers and companies profiting from the technology.

Bores has already begun engaging with potential 2028 contenders and their advisers, including Pete Buttigieg, Representative Ro Khanna, and Senator Ruben Gallego. This push comes amid increasing public anxiety regarding the unpredictable behavior of AI agents.
