Amazon Negotiates $7 Billion Acquisition of AI Startup Decart
Amazon is in talks to acquire generative AI startup Decart for $7 billion to gain its real-time video and simulation models.
Amazon.com is in negotiations to acquire the artificial intelligence startup Decart in a deal potentially valued at $7 billion. The acquisition would give the retail and technology conglomerate access to Decart's generative AI capabilities, specifically the Lucy model for real-time live video editing and the Oasis model, which creates simulated environments for robotics and autonomous-driving systems.
Decart's valuation has risen sharply in recent months. The startup was valued at nearly $4 billion in May following a $300 million funding round led by Radical Ventures Investments Inc. with participation from Nvidia Inc.
This potential deal follows a failed acquisition attempt by Anthropic, which explored purchasing Decart in August for approximately $6 billion. Anthropic decided against the purchase last month after completing its due diligence process. Neither Amazon nor Decart has responded to requests for comment regarding the current negotiations.
