US Navy Rotates Carrier Groups to Maintain Iran Blockade

The United States Navy is rotating its aircraft carrier strike groups in the Middle East to maintain a continuous military presence in the Arabian Sea. The USS Theodore Roosevelt strike group is scheduled to deploy from San Diego in the coming weeks for a mission lasting more than seven months.

This deployment will relieve the USS George Washington, which arrived in the region last week from Japan. The USS George Washington is replacing the USS Abraham Lincoln, which has been deployed since November 2025 and is currently traveling to Thailand for a port call.

These rotations ensure the United States can continue conducting strike missions over Iran and enforcing a naval blockade of Iranian ports. These operations follow the start of the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran in February.
