Gulf States Coordinate Response to Iranian Security Threats

The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bahrain, Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani, held a series of diplomatic discussions with Saudi Arabia and Qatar to address escalating regional security threats. In a call with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, the two officials condemned repeated Iranian attacks on Bahraini civilian facilities and critical infrastructure. They characterized these actions as violations of international humanitarian law, the principles of good-neighborliness, and United Nations Security Council Resolution 2817.

The officials further discussed the impact of Iran's continued closure of the Strait of Hormuz on maritime security and global energy and food supplies. They coordinated shared positions for the United Nations Security Council to ensure freedom of navigation through the Red Sea and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait.

Subsequently, Al Zayani spoke with Qatari Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani. The leaders focused on regional de-escalation and stability, with Sheikh Mohammed emphasizing that all parties must adhere to diplomacy and the terms of the Memorandum of Understanding between the United States and Iran. Both nations reaffirmed the necessity of maintaining freedom of traffic in the Strait of Hormuz to protect regional security and pursue enduring peace through comprehensive agreements.
