Changi Airport Passenger Traffic Rises 0.4 Percent in Q3

Changi Airport handled 17.4 million passengers in the third quarter of 2026, driven by demand from Europe, Northeast Asia, and the Southwest Pacific.

The Changi Airport Group reported that Singapore's Changi Airport handled 17.4 million passengers in the third quarter of 2026, a 0.4 percent increase compared to the same period in 2025. Growth was primarily driven by travel demand from Europe, Northeast Asia, and the Southwest Pacific. China, Indonesia, Australia, Malaysia, and India were the top five passenger markets, while Vietnam recorded the strongest year-on-year growth among the top 10 markets at 20.5 percent.

The busiest routes during the quarter included Kuala Lumpur, Jakarta, Denpasar, Bangkok, and Shanghai. Among the top ten routes, Tokyo and Melbourne saw the strongest growth at 5.2 percent and 5.1 percent, respectively. Aircraft movements rose 2.5 percent year-on-year to 93,900.

Airfreight throughput increased by 8 percent to 574,000 tonnes, supported by demand for semiconductors and electronics related to artificial intelligence. The largest cargo markets were China, the United States, Australia, Hong Kong, and India. Lim Ching Kiat, Executive Vice President for Air Hub and Cargo Development, noted that air travel demand remains resilient despite elevated fuel costs and operational pressures facing airlines.
