Florida, Georgia, and Texas Set October 5 Voter Deadlines
Florida, Georgia, and Texas officials established Monday, October 5, as the voter registration deadline for the upcoming November 3 general election.
The Government of Florida, the Government of Georgia, and the Government of Texas have set Monday, October 5, as the deadline for eligible residents to register for the November 3 general election.
In Florida, the 2026 midterm elections will determine the successor to Governor Ron DeSantis and representatives for the U.S. Senate, U.S. House, and Florida Legislature. Eligible voters can register online via RegisterToVoteFlorida.gov or through county offices. Following the deadline, voters may request mail-in ballots by October 22, with mandatory early voting running from October 24 through October 31.
Georgia and Texas also enforce the October 5 deadline. In Georgia's Chattooga County, voters will decide on property tax exemptions for seniors, the Education Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax, and a Trion City Schools bond question. Advance voting in that county begins October 13. Texas law requires registration 30 days before Election Day, and residents must submit signed paper applications to county election offices. Early voting in Texas is scheduled for October 19 through October 30.
