India Condemns Pakistan Over Deadly Jammu and Kashmir Crackdown

The Ministry of External Affairs of India condemned the Government of Pakistan following a violent crackdown on anti-government demonstrators in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The unrest, led by the Joint Awami Action Committee, centered on grievances regarding electoral rigging, political marginalization, and rising living costs. Security forces responded with force, resulting in more than 40 deaths and numerous injuries.

Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that the violence demonstrates the Pakistani establishment's disdain for civilians. Jaiswal highlighted comments from Rana Sanaullah, the Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Political Affairs, who admitted that the protesters were the same Mujahideen previously trained and armed by the Pakistani state to fight in India.

India has called for the international community to scrutinize these actions and support an independent investigation into the killings. Parallel to these diplomatic efforts, the United Kashmir People's National Party appealed to the United Nations and global powers for urgent intervention to protect civilians in the region.
