Tripura Prepares for Village Committee Elections on September 28

The Government of Tripura is finalizing security and logistical arrangements for the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council (TTAADC) Village Committee elections scheduled for September 28. The elections encompass 4,597 seats across 587 Village Committees and 2,634 constituencies, including 212 polling stations in West Tripura.

In North Tripura, State Election Commissioner P. K. Chakraborty and Director General of Police (in-charge) G.S. Rao inspected the Strong Room at Jubarajnagar RD Block and the Counting Hall at Balidhum S.B. School on September 24. Dr. Chakraborty directed officials to complete all pending arrangements to ensure a free, fair, and peaceful process.

Simultaneously, the West Tripura district administration intensified preparations. District Magistrate and Collector Vishal Kumar inspected the Strong Room at Mandwi to ensure the safety of election materials. To maintain public order, Kumar ordered prohibitory restrictions from the evening of September 26 until the morning of September 29. Security forces, including the Tripura State Rifles, state police, and paramilitary personnel, have been deployed across the district. The State Election Commission has scheduled the counting of votes for October 5.
