KKR to Acquire Medicover India Hospitals for $1.4 Billion
KKR & Co. agreed to buy Medicover's Indian hospital operations for 1.2 billion euros to expand its healthcare footprint in South and West India.
KKR & Co. Inc. has agreed to acquire the Indian hospital operations of Stockholm-based Medicover AB for an enterprise value of 1.2 billion euros, approximately 1.4 billion dollars. The transaction includes 24 hospitals and roughly 4,800 beds located across South and West India.
Medicover established its Indian business in 2017 but decided to pursue a sale after a December 2024 review concluded it was a superior alternative to a potential listing in India. The deal will generate 740 million euros in gross cash proceeds for Medicover, which the company intends to use to accelerate strategic growth in Poland, Germany, and Romania.
KKR plans to enhance the entity's technology, infrastructure, talent, and clinical capabilities while improving operational and governance standards. The acquisition is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, pending regulatory approvals and closing conditions.
