Solidigm Considers NAND Flash Factory in New York

Solidigm, the United States subsidiary of South Korean chipmaker SK Hynix, is considering the construction of a NAND flash memory chip factory in the United States. Upstate New York has emerged as a leading candidate for the site of the proposed facility.

The potential investment follows pressure from the Donald Trump administration to reshore semiconductor production. The move also addresses a memory chip shortage fueled by the rapid expansion of AI data centers.

This initiative is separate from ongoing discussions between SK Hynix and Intel regarding the manufacture of memory chips at an Intel facility located in Ohio.
