Canadian S&P/TSX Index Drops Over 600 Points

This downturn coincided with broader losses across U.S. stock markets. The Dow Jones industrial average dropped 341.41 points to 51,179.87, the S&P 500 fell 17.16 points to 7,801.77, and the Nasdaq composite decreased 61.20 points to 27,538.69.
Other financial indicators also declined. The Canadian dollar traded at 70.14 cents US, while November crude oil contracts fell to US$88.28 per barrel and December gold contracts dropped to US$4,140.70 an ounce.
