Anthropic Warns TSMC Disruptions Pose Risk in IPO Filing

Anthropic identified potential disruptions to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. operations as a significant business risk in its initial public offering prospectus.

Anthropic PBC identified potential disruptions to Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Co. (TSMC) operations as a significant risk to its business in a prospectus filed for its initial public offering.

The company stated that leading artificial intelligence firms rely heavily on the cutting-edge silicon produced by TSMC to train algorithms. This dependency extends to hardware providers such as Nvidia Corp. and Advanced Micro Devices Inc.

Anthropic also noted that firms designing their own AI chips, including Amazon.com Inc. and Alphabet Inc.’s Google, still require TSMC to manufacture their physical components. The filing highlights a systemic reliance on a single manufacturer for the hardware essential to AI development.
