Trinity College Students Protest Palestinian Visa Denials in Dublin

Student activists from Trinity College Dublin chained themselves to the Irish Department of Justice on September 16 and 17, 2026. The demonstration lasted 20 hours, during which protesters blocked all entrances and exits of the building and remained overnight to demand a review of 103 denied Palestinian student visas before a September 17 deadline.

Amy Kennedy, president of the Trinity College Dublin Students' Union, led the protest and criticized the government's actions. Kennedy argued that the visa rejections were "disingenuous" in light of the government's claims of support for the Palestinian people. She stated that the government cannot deny students the chance to learn skills that will help them rebuild their lives following conflict in their home country.

Kurtis Conner, the Student Union's communications officer, maintained that the protesters would not leave the site until the visa rejections were reversed.
