British Gas Energy Trust Offers Grants Up to £1,700

The British Gas Energy Trust is providing energy grants up to £1,700 to help eligible households in the UK clear outstanding utility debts.

The British Gas Energy Trust is offering Energy Support Grants of up to £1,700 to help eligible households in England, Scotland, and Wales clear outstanding gas and electricity debts. The grants are available to both prepayment meter and credit account customers who owe between £50 and £1,700 for prepayment accounts, or £100 and £1,700 for credit accounts.

To qualify, applicants must have a household income below £25,000 or meet specific criteria, including having a registered disabled person in the home, being a lone-parent family, or receiving Carer's Allowance. Additionally, applicants must provide evidence that they received money advice within the last six months.

While the grant is open to customers of various energy suppliers, the trust requires those using providers such as OVO, E.ON Next, EDF, and Octopus to apply to their own supplier's support fund first. These applicants must provide evidence of a refusal from their primary supplier before they can apply for assistance from the British Gas Energy Trust.
