Pakistan Adjusts Fuel Prices Following Daily Market Review

The Government of Pakistan lowered petrol prices while increasing diesel costs on August 11, following a period of price stability.

The Government of Pakistan adjusted fuel prices on August 11, 2026, after maintaining stable rates the previous day. Motor spirit petrol decreased by Rs. 1.7 to Rs. 325.92 per liter, while high-speed diesel increased by Rs. 1.39 to Rs. 382.25 per liter.

These fluctuations follow a decision on August 10 to keep petrol at Rs. 327.62 and diesel at Rs. 380.86 per liter, despite expectations of a reduction. The Petroleum Division and the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority formalized these rates through official notifications.

Petroleum Minister Ali Pervaiz Malik stated that daily prices are now calculated using a seven-day average of international market prices. This new mechanism aims to increase transparency and responsiveness to global volatility, a shift prompted by Middle East hostilities that began February 28 and disrupted energy flows via the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.

Since the implementation of these daily updates, petrol prices have risen by a total of Rs. 14.52 per liter, while diesel has seen a more significant increase of Rs. 56.14 per liter.
