Vote to Stay Poll Shows Majority Alberta Support for Canada
Vote to Stay released polling showing a strong majority of Albertans support remaining in Canada ahead of an October 19 referendum.
A province-wide poll commissioned by Vote to Stay indicates that a strong majority of Albertans across all regions support the province remaining part of Canada. The survey, conducted between June 4 and 12, 2026, among 2,000 eligible voters, found the highest support levels in Edmonton at 80% and Calgary at 78%. Support in Southern Alberta stood at 72%, while Northern and Central Alberta both reported 66% support.
Monte Solberg, the founder of Vote to Stay and a former Alberta Conservative cabinet minister, characterized the findings as encouraging but cautioned against complacency. He warned that the high motivation of separatists, evidenced by over 200,000 signatures on a previous petition, could sway the results of the upcoming October 19 referendum if those favoring a united Canada fail to turn out in significant numbers.
