Crumbl Cookies Closes 57 Locations Amid Sales Slump

Crumbl Cookies closed approximately 57 locations in 2026 as declining sales and shifting consumer habits impacted the gourmet cookie franchise.

Crumbl Cookies closed approximately 57 of its 1,000-plus locations across the United States in 2026. The Utah-based company is experiencing a sharp downturn in performance, with August sales reportedly declining 70% compared to two years prior and foot traffic dropping by 32%.

Industry reports attribute the decline to tighter household budgets and a reduced consumer appetite for sweets, partly linked to the increased use of GLP-1 medications. The company attempted to stimulate growth by introducing dirty sodas, but the move failed to meet expectations and coincided with a 16% decline in unit volumes. In addition to the closures, 55 franchises have been listed for sale.

This instability follows a leadership shift earlier this year when co-founders Jason McGowan and Sawyer Hemsley stepped down from the company. The downturn mirrors a broader trend in the dessert sector, including the total shutdown of the cupcake chain Sprinkles at the end of 2025. While some regions like Louisiana maintain operations and certain Michigan cities still list active stores, the nationwide closures have raised concerns regarding the stability of the remaining locations.
