Maharashtra FDA Suspends Blink Commerce License Over Safety Violations

The Food and Drug Administration of Maharashtra suspended the food license of a Blink Commerce Pvt Ltd facility in Malad (West), Mumbai, following an inspection on August 7, 2026. The regulator barred the facility from selling or distributing food with immediate effect under Section 32(3) of the Food Safety and Standards Act.

Inspectors discovered severe hygiene and safety violations, including extensive cockroach infestations in fruit and vegetable storage areas and the use of rusty racks. The facility was found to be storing expired, damaged, and tampered packaged food while failing to implement standard inventory practices such as First In, First Out (FIFO) and First Expiry, First Out (FEFO). Additionally, the FDA cited inadequate cleanliness in cold storage and a lack of health records or protective equipment for food handlers.

This enforcement action is part of a broader campaign led by Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe. Between May 25 and July 31, the FDA inspected 3,137 food establishments, resulting in 165 license suspensions. This drive led to the seizure or destruction of 28.66 lakh kg of food products with an estimated value of ₹55.72 crore.
