Michigan Counties Launch Early Voting for Partisan Primaries

Early voting for the partisan primary election is underway across several Michigan counties, running from July 25 through August 2. This statewide initiative aims to increase voter accessibility and reduce congestion on the primary election day, August 4.

In Houghton County, Jennifer Kelly, the County Clerk, is managing voting operations at the HOCO Arena in Hancock. Kelly reported that 52 ballots were cast during the first two days of the window. Hancock City Manager Mary Babcock noted the utility of using the arena for a public purpose during the summer months.

Other active voting sites include the L'Anse Township Hall in Baraga County, the Ontonagon Township Library in Ontonagon County, and the Eagle Harbor Township Hall in Keweenaw County. In Marquette County, officials are utilizing a network of locations, including the Peter White Public Library and various township halls and community centers in Tilden, Chocolay, Gwinn, Negaunee, and Marquette.
