Mondelēz Demands Moo Free Remove Vegan Snowballs Over Trademark

Mondelēz International has ordered vegan brand Moo Free to pull its White Choccy Snowballs from shelves, alleging the product infringes on the Cadbury Snow Balls trademark.

Mondelēz International, the parent company of Cadbury and Toblerone, has demanded that vegan chocolate brand Moo Free remove its White Choccy Snowballs from store shelves. The company alleges trademark infringement, citing its 2001 registration of the terms Snowball and Snowballs for chocolate confectionery.

Based in Devon, Moo Free has sold the products for approximately two years and denies any infringement. The company argues that snowball is a generic term and has formally responded to the legal letter by rejecting the claims. Moo Free also expressed solidarity with Catherine’s Originals, another vegan brand Mondelēz recently targeted for allegedly copying the shape of Toblerone bars.

Mondelēz maintains it remains open to an amicable resolution and has not yet initiated formal legal action. However, the company asserts that Cadbury Snow Balls are one of its most popular Christmas products in the United Kingdom.
