Six Flags Closes Nine Rides After Fatal Georgia Accident

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation closed nine roller coasters across six parks after a visitor died and four others were injured on the Goliath ride in Georgia.

A visitor died and four others were injured on October 12, 2026, during an incident on the Goliath roller coaster at Six Flags Over Georgia in Austell. While witnesses reported seeing a man fall from the ride, the Cobb County Police Department's Major Crimes Unit is investigating the event and has not yet confirmed those accounts. The ride, which reaches speeds of 136kmh and drops guests 77m, required the evacuation of all passengers.

Six Flags Entertainment Corporation responded by closing nine similar attractions across six of its parks, including the Raging Bull at Six Flags Great America, citing an abundance of caution. The company stated that staff and local authorities responded immediately and that they are cooperating fully with the investigation.

The accident triggered a sharp decline in company stock, which fell over 10% in after-hours trading. This financial volatility comes as the company faces a trailing net loss of $1.75 billion and high debt. The incident also follows the permanent closure of the X2 coaster at Six Flags Magic Mountain in California, which was retired amid lawsuits from over 100 clients alleging catastrophic brain injuries and a settled wrongful-death suit from 2022.
