Sault Ste. Marie Councillors Host Town Hall on Data Centres

Councillors Lisa Vezeau Allen and Angela Caputo will host a community listening session on August 26 to gather input on large-scale data centre development.

City councillors Lisa Vezeau Allen and Angela Caputo are hosting a non-partisan town hall meeting on Wednesday, August 26, to gather community input on the development of large-scale data centres. The session, scheduled from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Grand Gardens Downtown, aims to record public concerns and support to help the city council understand the complexities of the emerging industry.

The event focuses on general data centre development rather than the specific sale of the Yates Avenue property. Garden River First Nation Chief Karen Bell and Batchewana First Nation Chief Mark McCoy are scheduled to attend and speak at the meeting.

Following the listening session, the councillors intend to draft a report for the community to determine if further expert consultation is required.
