Democrats Lead in Florida Public Campaign Finance Funding
Democratic candidates for governor and attorney general are outpacing Republicans in small-dollar public funding despite trailing in overall campaign account totals.
David Jolly and other Democratic candidates in Florida are receiving more small-dollar donations through the state's public campaign finance program than their Republican opponents. Since July 17, Jolly, who is running for governor, has collected $2.1 million from the program, while Republican candidate Byron Donalds has received $932,000.
A similar trend appears in the attorney general race, where Democratic candidate Jose Javier Rodriguez has received nearly $287,000 compared to $165,000 for Republican incumbent James Uthmeier.
Despite the lead in public funding, Republicans maintain significantly higher overall totals in campaign accounts and political committees. The Friends of Byron Donalds PAC has raised $107.6 million, far exceeding the $6.4 million raised by the Florida 2026 committee supporting Jolly.
