U.S. Investigates Russian Aid in Iranian Drone Attacks

U.S. intelligence analysts are investigating whether Russia provided advanced technology or targeting data to help Iran execute drone strikes against CIA facilities in the Gulf region. The attacks targeted at least two sites, including the CIA station within the U.S. embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, and a facility in eastern Iraq, though some reports indicate additional sites were hit.

U.S. intelligence officials are specifically examining the possible use of the Kometa-M satellite navigation system. A Western intelligence memo concluded that Russia likely played a role in targeting the facilities. These incidents follow a separate attack in which Iran struck a U.S. air base in Jordan with ballistic missiles, resulting in the deaths of two soldiers.

The Kremlin has denied providing the Kometa-M system to Iran, dismissing the claims as "fake news." The Russian Defence Ministry has declined to comment further on the allegations of assisting the strikes.
